Our team was involved in the Master Planning and worked to execute a multiphase project that will bring to life the vision of the Ursuline Academy campus.
The project included a 95,000 square foot state-of-the-art academic building with a 1,000 seat theater, visual and performing arts spaces and classrooms. When designing the theater, our team paid special attention to the acoustical characteristics of the system to ensure appropriate sound and disturbance levels in the space. The strategies implemented included:
- Selecting and sizing acoustical ductwork to minimize noise due to air velocity inside the duct
- Selection of diffusers to minimize noise
- Careful design of return air pathways to minimize noise transfer from HVAC equipment
- Incorporation of fan wall technology into large air handlers to enhance quiet operation
- Addition of in-line sound attenuators in ductwork to further reduce noise
In addition to the theater, students can explore other interests such as Broadcasting, Engineering and Robotics with dynamic and flexible learning labs and collaboration areas.
Additionally, renovations were completed for the existing West Campus, including the central administration located in Main Hall and Cass Hall. Haggar Hall underwent a full kitchen remodel and provided students with additional dining spaces.
SCHMIDT & STACY® provided Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineering design services for the project.
